I saw were the SEC is thinking about adding Texas A&M. Why would they (being the SEC) want to do that?
Other then opening up Texas as a potential recruiting grounds what would A&M bring to the mix? I can sort of understand Arkansas and South Carolina being added due to the geographical locations but A&M?
GA Tech would be a smarter choice, well rounded in football with the hot and cold years like everyone else. Or even adding Louisville to bring some Basketball power into play and still have the geographical location in play as well.
This works great for the schools as the road trip costs wouldn't be so high, works for the fans who like to travel with the teams and all around makes better sense then A&M.
I don't have anything against A&M, it's a great school with a lot of tradition but...how can Texas be considered SEC? I know it's next to Louisiana but if you follow that logic does that mean that Oklahoma would be next? OR Arizona? Or how about any states or teams with the letters S E or C in them.
Can someone explain why A&M is on the table? or better yet is the SEC picks up A&M who would be the 12th team to even out the divisions...Slippery Rock U?
Thanks

I agree with the Texas A&M issue. I'm glad they stayed in the Big 12. I was thinking that if we went along with the whole expansion thing, that Georgia Tech and North Carolina would actually be a good duo. Georgia tech, as you said, is well rounded and North Carolina is about to be a big time sports school in all three sports, with their football program on the rise, a decent baseball team, and a basketball team that is top of the heap more times than not. I don't think we would get Louisville, seeing as how they have only been a Big East member for roughly 6 years now. Even if we did go for a team in Texas, we should have courted the other UT if only for the annual rivalry the Vols and Longhorns could have. Now THAT would be a good Orange and White game.

Don't think we cold of gotten North Carolina and not pickup NC State. But I agree North Carolina would of been good to bring into the SEC.
How about picking up some of the smaller schools from C-USA. This would give their programs a big boost and national exposure.
Vols & Longhorns would be a good matchup if only to be able to brag about being THE UT team! Ha Ha.
