Please select options (you can select more than one option) to let me know to what extent you want non-members to have access to the forum (anyone can currently read the board, but must register to post comments or start threads), and to determine whether or not you want the board moderated to control content.
If you decide you want moderators, I'll need some volunteers to keep an eye on the board and remove any offensive content - etc. You can post a comment to let me know to what extent you want the board to be moderated - i.e. can a moderator ban a user or just warn him/her.
We can also select specific areas that are open to anyone, and have others designated as members only.
I really want to get a dialogue going so we can make the board one that everyone enjoys!

I think that the forum should have a moderator to control content and should be able to ban after a warnings.
I voted for members only but after thinking about it more, you could try allowing non-members to post to threads (especially Swap Shop). Maybe this will give the forum a jump start and if it does not work than change to members only. Also, if they can only post to a thread and not start one that might be incentive to join.

Anybody else got any thoughts?
Should moderators be elected or volunteers?
Who will be willing to moderate?
The Swap Shop is currently in the members only directory - I will make it public and open posts to non members to see how it works out.
I will also make the change to allow non members to respond to existing threads - but I will need everyone to be vigilant in making sure that inappropriate posts (not dissenting views, but anything pornographic, threatening or otherwise inappropriate based on common sense are reported and subsequently removed)

As long as the content is kept unoffensive and sane, I don't see a reason for non members not being allowed to post.
Just have to remember that an open mind will be needed in any topic.
