What do you all think about selecting a resident right and resident left leaning member to debate current events.
We can have a weekly poll for the debate topic, and the resident right and resident left can post a couple of paragraphs related to the issue.
We can establish a special designation for the debating members (just like was established for the founding members), and the rest of us can comment on the debate.
I'd like to broaden the views on the topics that we discuss, and I'd like to see more in depth discussion (and no, I'm not a high school civics teacher) about the issues. Believe it or not, even though I'm conservative - I like it when the other side can make me question what I think, why I think it and whether or not my thinking is flawed.
Give me some feedback.

So this would be like a debate class where after you've posted you have to refute everything you just said?

Parnelli, Our debating skills are so much better than that. You know that we never post anything we have to refute.
I was thinking more along the lines of having a topic of the week, letting the resident right and resident left post their ideas - then allowing members to comment or ask questions.
I'd prefer to have the members determine how they want it to be set up. I'm just throwing out ideas to make it interesting and fun.
By the way - I'd love more input from everyone on what we should add, delete etc.

I actually like that idea. Try it and see how it flies.

Who wants to be the Resident Right and Who wants to be the Resident Left?

It would have to be either Abracadabra or TLC1st for resident right. Maybe grantpk or jetfan (was that his name?) for resident left.
